June 4-July 10: Grow it! Garden Organizer Training Series
Workshops for Community and School garden Leaders in Barre, Bellows Falls, Bennington, Burlington, Hartland, Newport and Rutland. Join community and school garden leaders from around your region for this unique training series. Learn strategies to boost your garden programs and support growth, share stories and ideas, and celebrate this growing movement. More info and registration.

 

June 15: Edible & Medicinal Use of Non-native Invasive species at the Horticulture Farm in South Burlington, 9:00-11:00am. Walk through the Hort. farm with registered dietician, Melanie Brotz, and identify non-native invasives with medicinal and edible benefits. More information.

June 22: Burlap Bag Benefit Sale, 9am-1pm at 95 North Ave, Burlington (COTS parking lot). Burlap coffee bags are great for garden mulch, grow bags, craft projects, and more! All proceeds benefit VCGN’s education programs. 20-bag bundles for $20. Free Green Mountain Coffee Roasters iced coffee. Pre-orders and more info.

July 13: Perennial Garden Maintenance Day at the South Burlington Horticulture Farm, 9:00-12:00. Weed, deadhead, and stake perennials with Perennial Garden Curator, Brian Vaughn. More information.

July 21: Friends of the Hort. Farm 18th Annual Plant Sale, 10:00-3:00pm. Visit the Horticulture Farm in South Burlington and select from a variety of trees, shrubs, perennials, and plants donated from nurseries throughout Vermont. More information.

Aug. 17: Leaf Casting Workshop at the Horticulture Farm in South Burlington 9:00-12:00. Join Nancy Simonson to create leaf castings from your favorite large leaf plants, use as decorations or stepping stones in your garden! More information.

Aug. 18-23: Edible Forest Garden 5 day workshop at Yestermorrow design/build school. Learn and apply the principles of forest ecology and home garden design to grow food, fuel, and more while promoting ecosystem health. This experiential learning workshop is open to all but best for experienced gardeners or permaculture design course graduates. More information.

Sept. 15: Mushroom Walk and Talk at the Horticulture Farm in South Burlington, 10:00-1:00pm. Join Robert Resnik and Stephanie Miner for a walk through the Hort. farm woods, bring a basket and enjoy a discussion about your fungal "finds".More information.

Oct. 8: Native Nut Workshop at the Horticulture Farm in South Burlington, 6:00-8:00pm. Learn about the native tree species that produce nuts with Tyler Durkel of Elmore Roots Nursery. More information.

Oct. 12-13: Introduction to Permaculture at Yestermorrow design/build school. Learn the principles and fundamentals of permaculture design, and how to apply them to a diversity of projects. More information.

Oct. 13-25: Permaculture Design Certification at Yestermorrow design/build school. Take the 12 day, 80+ hour certification course to apply principles of permaculture to environmental design. More information.

Nov. 23: Make Herbal Stocking Stuffers with Denise Quick at the Horticulture Farm in South Burlington, 10:00-1:00pm. Learn how to make herbal lip balms and other skin care products, take home three made items and their recipes. More information.
