school gardensBurlington School Garden Initiative

Through support from FBG and the efforts of parents, volunteers, and community partners, all of Burlington's elementary, middle, and high schools are currently involved in gardening, primarily using raised beds. FBG offers a garden-based nutrition program during the summer at several schools.

A diversity of garden projects sponsored by nonprofits, social service agencies, and city departments help meet the food security and recreational needs of Burlington residents with a special focus on youths and immigrants.

Gardening can offer many health and social benefits for seniors and people with disabilities. Accessible gardens often involve specially designed raised beds; visit this link for examples and images..
