Plant a Row for the Hungry

Plant a Row for the Hungry is a hunger relief  program sponsored nationally by the Garden Writers Association of America, and locally by Burlington Parks and Recreation and Friends of Burlington Gardens. Area farmers, home gardeners, and community gardeners contribute hundreds of pounds of fresh produce to the agencies listed below, where it is distributed to help people in need. The goal of Plant a Row for the Hungry is to promote healthy nutrition by increasing the availability of fresh produce, while at the same time not letting food go to waste.

Agencies especially value donations of beans, summer and winter squash,  cucumbers, root crops, peppers, and tomatoes that have just started to turn.
