Members and supporters

Friends of Burlington Gardens encourages Vermonter with interest in community and school gardening to join and participate in the Vermont Community Garden Network (VCGN).

VCGN conferenceMembers of the Vermont Community Garden Network receive email newsletters with information about garden-based educational opportunities, events, and resources. The newsletters are distributed via the VT-GARDEN-NET list serv maintained by FBG. Click on the  link for a Directory of VCGN members sorted by last name.

If you would like to receive VT-GARDEN-NET newsletters, please
email FBG with your name, organizational affilliation if desired, and mailing address. Articles for the list serv may be emailed to the list serv administrator and newsletter editor, Jim Flint.

To support the Vermont Community Garden Network, Friends of Burlington Gardens relies on a base of 300 contributors who live in Vermont and other states. An honor roll of donors appears in the Growing Places newsletter published during the summer and in the FBG Annual Report published in December.


What your help accomplishes

Emergency Shelter garden Friends of Burlington Gardens works year round to support the development of community, neighborhood, and youth gardens in Burlington and across Vermont. FBG is a grassroots organization with dedicated staff and volunteers who are committed to effective stewardship of resources. Charitable contributions made to support FBG and the Vermont Community Garden Network are tax deductible to the fullest extent of the law.

How to make a contribution to FBG

Online or by mail:  Click here for FBG's donation form.  Donors may use the donation form for secure online contributions, or the mail in form to contribute by check.

Matching gifts: Several companies match charitable gifts made by employees to Friends of Burlington Gardens. Companies with matching gift programs include IBM, Gardener's Supply, Ben & Jerry's, Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, and B.F. Goodrich. To speed processing, please submit a matching gift form with your contribution.

Feinstein Challenge: FBG participates each year in the Feinstein Challenge, in which one million dollars in financial support is divided among hunger fighting agencies nationwide. Contributions made on-line or by mail between March 1st and April 30th will automatically qualify for Feinstein matching funds.

Memorials:  FBG's gardening community remembers those gardeners and supporters who have passed away. Memorial gifts are graciously accepted throughout the year and acknowledged in our summer newsletter. A memorial page is also provided on our web site for special garden friends.

Privacy Policy

Friends of Burlington Gardens pledges to maintain privacy for the address, phone, and email information provided by supporters and VCGN members. Information (name, address, email address, etc.) is stored in a secure database. Credit card information is not stored electronically. Our olicy is not to sell, rent, or provide mailing list information to other organizations or companies. An exception to this policy is made for VCGN conferences or meetings, when printed participant lists are shared with individuals attending the conference or workshop.

FBG & VCGN Office

FBG HeadquartersThe headquarters for Friends of Burlington Gardens and the Vermont Community Garden Network are located in a 200 square foot office on the second floor of the Greenhouse Building at 180 Flynn Avenue in Burlington. The building also houses the Vermont Campaign to End Childhood Hunger and Green Mountain Peer Projects.

Although the FBG & VCGN office is open year round, prospective visitors are asked to schedule an appointment in advance by calling or emailing executive director Jim Flint.
