  Burlington Blooms Awards Program
sponsored by Gardener's Supply

From 2003-05, Friends of Burlington Gardens served as a judge for the Burlington Blooms Awards entries in the Best Community, Neighborhood, or Youth Garden category. Nominees were judged on the overall appearance and maintenance of their garden site, involvement of community gardeners in the garden, and the creativity of gardens at the site. Congratulations to the winners and honorable mentions, which are listed below. The awards program took a break in 2006, but may resume at a future time.

Best Community, Neighborhood, or Youth Garden Category

Community-based garden winners for 2005:  Burlington High School International Garden (1st place), Lakeview Community Garden (2nd place), and Medical Center Community Garden (3rd place).

Community-based garden winners in 2004:  Ethan Allen Homestead Community Garden (1st place), Sara Holbrook Children's Garden (2nd place), and the Roosevelt Park Youth Garden (3rd place). The Queen City Park Children's Garden received an honorable mention.

Community-based garden winners in 2003:  Starr Farm Community Garden (1st place), Ten Stones Community Garden (2nd place), and the VNA Family Room Garden (3rd place).

Award winners received Gardener's Supply gift certificates of $250, $150, and $100 respectively which were used to purchase tools and supplies for the community, neighborhood, or youth garden.

Special thanks to Gardener's Supply for their generous support and recognition of community-based gardening.
